Unbecoming

We’re taught to chase identity, to gather traits, roles, titles., to become someone, b
ut sometimes, the path to who you truly are doesn’t begin with adding, it begins with subtracting.

The false self we wear:

Over the years, we collect identities like coats. We wear what’s expected of us, the good child.
The strong one, the achiever, the pleaser.
We wear survival like style, conforming to fit the shape of approval, but what fits the world

doesn’t always fit the soul.

The weight of pretending:

We carry names we didn’t choose. We walk paths we didn’t question. We confuse performance with purpose, and deep down, a quiet ache grows louder: This isn’t me.

But who is?

The answer doesn’t come in grand declarations. It comes in the brave unraveling, the sacred undoing of who we’re not.

The art of unbecoming:

Unbecoming is not failure. It’s freedom. It’s removing the masks worn for applause. It’s shedding the roles assigned in rooms of survival. It’s walking away from dreams that weren’t yours to begin with.

Unbecoming asks:

  • Who told you to be this way?
  • Who benefits from your obedience?
  • Who are you when no one’s watching?

It is painful, sometimes lonely but most certainly liberating.

In the absence of pretending, truth emerges:

There is a silence in unbecoming, not empty, but fertile. From that stillness, something begins to bloom: not a better version of the lie, but the birth of truth. You meet the you that was always there, hidden beneath the noise. Not perfect. Not polished, but real.

Conclusion:

To become yourself, you must unbecome the self you built for safety. You must leave the house of mirrors, and walk into the wilderness of truth. You are not lost, you are returning.
Not becoming something new, but remembering something ancient, so unlearn, undo and unmask. Let the unbecoming be your beginning, the unraveling, your rebirth.

Because only when you stop being who you’re not, can you truly become who you are.
